Miss Till, our newest member of staff in Early Years, lived in Beijing for three years. She worked at an international school and she had amazing opportunities to get to know the Chinese way of life.
The children watched and copied Chinese traditional dancing, made paper dragons, learned to say hello in Chinese “ni hao” and Happy New Year! “Xin nian kui le!”, looked at Chinese numbers, they made a traditional Chinese restaurant where children had a pretend meal eating with chop sticks, listened to traditional children’s songs, looked at traditional dresses and learnt about Chinese zodiacs. They also learnt that it is the Year of the Pig!
The children had a great time and were full of questions afterwards, as they wanted to know more about Chinese traditions.
