Reports to Parents
All children will be bringing home their end of year reports on:- Monday 19th July
Good News
As many of you will know already Ms Brown is expecting a baby, and will be on maternity leave from 1st September. We recently held interviews for a teacher to cover her absence and I am delighted to be able to tell you that we had a very strong field of candidates. After a busy day of interviews, we appointed Ms Cassandra Hedger who we are looking forward to welcoming to the Waterfield team.
Information from School Governors
The Governing Body have organised for a School Governor to be available for parents at an informal "drop in" session every Monday from 2.45 until 3.30 in the Zoom Room, starting after half term. Please come along if you feel you would like to talk to one of us.
We would be very grateful for any offers of help/volunteers for BBQ/family day on last day of term. The event was very successful last year and we hope that it is even more successful this year. Please contact the school office or Alison Finnie, parent governor.
We are attempting to move cycling proficiency from Year 6 to Year 5 and if we are successful we will purchase cycle racks for all pupils who have passed test to use.
At Waterfield we are allowed to have 4 parent governors who are elected by the parents of pupils registered at the school and are parents themselves. The term of office is 4 years.
Currently we have 2 parent governor posts vacant. If you think you would like to stand for election as a governor of the school, please complete a nomination form (available from the school office) or come and have an informal chat with me.
If more that 2 people are interested we will send all parents voting papers, which will include the candidates' election statements.
Please consider joining our Governing Body - we need your support!
Summer uniform
Please remember that uniform for boys is GREY or BLACK school shorts. Sports type shorts are not allowed and school shoes, not trainers. Girls may wear blue and white checked or striped summer dresses with socks and sandals with back straps for Health and Safety reasons, children wearing inappropriate footwear i.e. without back straps will not be allowed to use playground equipment. P.E. kit is a plain white round necked t-shirt, navy shorts and plimsolls.
Emergency contact numbers
Please do not forget to let the school office know if you change your home telephone number/mobile number or address.
Tesco Vouchers
We are still collecting Tesco vouchers. Please send in any vouchers you may get and put them in the box outside the school office. Thank you.
Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers
We are collecting Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers also. These will be redeemed for a wide range of active equipment.
Unauthorised absences from school
We have recently been advised by the Education Welfare Officer that if you do not advise us of the reason your child's absence from school within 2 weeks of the date of the absence it will automatically be logged as "unauthorised".
If at any time you would like to advise us of an outstanding absence it can always be changed on the system. Please let the office know if this is the case.
September absence
Please remember that no absences will be authorised for the first two weeks of the Autumn term, as agreed by all Crawley schools. Any absences during this period, other than sickness, will be registered as unauthorised. This decision was taken by schools in the hope of encouraging high attendance in this very important settling in period for children in their new classes.
Yours sincerely
