Waterfield School opened in January 1985 with three classes in temporary accommodation in Bewbush Middle School.
In September 1985 the new building was completed and the school opened with six classes. At the start of the school year 2008 there are 10 classes and 275 children in the school, including the Nursery children. In the past few years Waterfield School has undergone a significant building and refurbishment programme resulting in new classrooms, an extended library, an extended hall, a new computer suite, Community Room and Studio and the fitting of interactive whiteboards in ten classrooms. We have also invested significant funds in the outside space with a new adventure and climbing area.
The school has a purpose built Nursery class which opened in April 1994 providing part-time Nursery education for 52 children.
We are very fortunate to be situated beside a large millpond which provides a wealth of opportunity for first-hand experiences and for environmental and conservation education. The school is a member of the Adventure Playground situated by the millpond and regularly takes pupils to make use of its facilities.
We have recently built two group rooms and the hutted classrooms have been demolished which means more open space for the children to use.
For the safety of your children a coded entrance system has been installed and all staff and visitors are required to wear identity badges while on the premises. A security fence and CCTV cameras are also on the school site.
